Garry,

Make sure that the clutch slave cylinder is operating to its full travel! Try bleeding the slave cylinder if not moving to its full extent. It is not unknown for the slave cylinder to seize if not operated for some time.

You say that you followed the adjustment procedures as per the Haynes manual, these are correct and should give you a properly operating clutch.

If you still have no luck with the clutch operation you will probably have to open up the clutch cover and check for any abnormalities with the clutch plate or release bearing.

Good luck,

Mike.

No help I'm afraid! I just found that my mini (1969 Cooper Mk2)cannot engage gear, after standing a few months unused. I wondered if & how you had solved the problem.

Made adjustments as you stated. I have supported the front of the car on blocks and started the car in gear. Revved and then did "emergency stop". This freed the clutch but only temporarily, as it seized up again in minutes.

Any ideas anyone please?

Hi,

I have a non verto clutch type and cannot engage gears. My main trouble is that i think the final movement is too small. I have adjusted stuff just like it says in teh haynes manual but to no avail. Anyone got any ideas?

Garry
